Social and financial risk protection for poor and vulnerable populations is a major issue across the globe. Lack of social and financial risk protection leads to high levels of poverty, vulnerability and inequality in access to opportunities.
While labour is abundant in Nigeria, the other key inputs to development – human capital, material capital and technology – are all in extremely short supply, preventing the private sector from expanding and the economy from developing new capabilities. The result is that up to 84.9% of the population earn less than the international poverty line of $1.90 per day (using PPP conversion to 2011 exchange rates and inflation adjustment) when measuring their reported sources of income (KDGHS 2017).
Empowering people is essential to the health and social development of families, communities and countries.
We believe that when people are empowered and living safe, fulfilled and productive lives, they can reach their full potential. Contributing their skills to the workforce and raising healthier and happier families
Our programmes vary in prospect and focus, ranging from the empowerment of women to periodic training and skill acquisition programs. We sponsor vocational scholarships in Nigeria and beyond. Our unique strategy funnels empowered and established beneficiaries back into the program in our “train the trainer’ and mentorship projects.
Our beneficiaries start or improve on businesses in their various communities, creating jobs and promoting the general welfare and collective development.
